The skirt is then resist dyed red and then black using mineral dyes. The intricate tying of the fibres to resist the cloth creates a wonderful texture to the cloth. This example was tied in a rich variety of designs. The yellow color is the natural color of the fiber. These skirts were worn by women for ceremonial occasions.
