One of two hangings that were part of a suite of wedding hangings. In China the butterfly is a symbol of young love and an undying bond between lovers. The pair of phoenixes are a symbol for strength, good fortune and luck. The peony symbolizes prosperity and when shown with plum, lotus and chrysanthemum symbolizes peace in 4 seasons.
