This older-than-most elegant Resht is worked in the mosaic work technique. The design is formed by cutting out pieces of felted wool to the correct size and shape and inserting the piece into the opening in the ground that has been cut to the same dimensions.The resulting design has been highlighted with embroidery in the central medallion, spandrels and border. It has a recurring classical design that originated in book design and is found on countless rugs and other media from the 16th century onwards
