This piece has wonderful scale and a deep intense indigo blue. There are lovely inky shadows emanating from the bound lines in the central capped motifs that carry across the blue field and connect to the bound lines in the corner motifs. The edges of the capped areas have a soft smudged look and a very pale indigo intrudes partially into the resisted white areas of the corner motifs. The large motifs are oboshi capped with kumo spiderweb bound lines radiating outward. It is composed of 4 joined panels of hand spun and woven cotton cloth.
