This diaphanous summer kimono has a very large-scale juji, cross design. The use of only two alternating colours for the crosses against the black background creates a bold and striking effect. The centres of each cross are highlighted with lacquered silver threads giving the piece a subdued shimmer. The sleeves have been tucked up but could easily be unpicked to show the elegant long sleeves of the prewar period.
