This is an exceptional piece. It is the only example we have seen that mixes the two techniques of meisen and shibori. The meisen is executed in an unusually painterly fashion. There are also very subtle lacquered threads highlighting the center of each treasure bag. The small kanoko dots in the field are crisp and well executed, as are the larger shibori sections that carry the meisen pattern all of which points to the high quality of the fabric. Both technically and aesthetically this is a very accomplished piece.
