This design is undoubtedly based on a Western example. The plates are Western and the arrangement of the apples and the plate are reminiscent of still life paintings. The apples are portrayed with strong sense of perspective and an endeavour to show the roundness of the fruit. Collecting plates was a popular hobby in the Taisho period.
