Machines of War

Machines of War

Japan embraced industrialization without reserve and they were hurtled from a feudal society into a modern industrialized state in a very short time. Inevitably this lead to a burgeoning military and industrial complex which, in a very short time produced amongst other Machines of War a formidable navy.

There is great deal of overlap between Modernization and Machines of War. Certain machines such as tanks, early listening devices and cannon are only used in the context of war while others such as trains and planes have both civilian and military uses and were emblematic of modernity as well as war.
