These cache fesse or back aprons were worn by Mangbetu woman on a fiber string wrapped below the waist. They are made of folded and bound banana leaves and then appliqued with dyed pieces of fiber in distinctive geometric patterns. They were worn rather low on the back and also served as a seating mat.
