This extremely rare leather apron was worn by young Zulu men. It is made with strips of leather that have been 'feathered' and then twisted to give them a rather fern like appearance. The photograph showing a young Zulu man wearing an Izinene was purchased with the piece at a European antiques fair (it is included with the apron).
