This goatskin back-apron is worn by the Nyangatom women of the Omo Valley in Southern Ethiopia. The graphic design of this elegantly drawn apron relate to clan and place. The technique is unusual, created by shaving away the fur on the pelt, the remaining fur creating the design - in much the same way as some stylish black men have their hair fashioned. Each apron is a unique object made by the woman who wears it.
