This basket has a very similar structure to item no:980. It is woven with a weft faced weave with only tiny warp stitches of fibre binding the weft fibres into place. These tiny stitches hold down the strips of dark blue fiber that create the design and are only present on the outside of the basket. The strength of the basket is found in the interior with a second structural layer. The bottom is a brighter blue showing the original color and there is greenish rim, colours that were popular during the colonial period.
