Fine Tutsi Agaseke Prestige Basket

Another interesting variant to Tutsi weaving is shown in this basket. The outer layer design is all weft with only the finest possible warp showing, just enough to bind the strips. The design is a double line zigzag circling up the basket. The design, in typical fashion is added in narrow dyed strips of fibre, in this case starting on the inside of the basket at one edge and bound and cut on the outside of the basket at the other edge of the motif. The inside is formed of flat vertical strips of fiber.
